If planes don't fascinate you, I don't know what will. Just being under one of these massive things made of tons of aluminum, and realizing they can fly thousands of miles in the air, carrying hundreds of people on it, makes me feel small and grateful in the face of mystery we are surrounded by. Because I know, even if they gave me all the books and explained all the laws of physics, I could never build one of these things. And that applies to most people. I get similar realizations when I drive mountain roads, thinking how many years and how many people it took to build these roads... and often wonder, how many more of the things we have in our daily lives that we take for granted.
