Mount Shasta rises in magnificent solitude from the northern California landscape, its snow-capped volcanic peak soaring to nearly 14,180 feet and commanding the horizon for hundreds of miles in every direction like a silent, ancient sentinel. Draped in glaciers and often wreathed in mysterious lenticular clouds, this dormant stratovolcano has long inspired a sense of awe and spiritual wonder in all who behold it, its perfect snow-white cone reflected in the still waters of the valleys below.
